Happy Happy Joy Joy! The Homecoming Blog Tour Commences

I know, I know, shouldn’t I be a little too old to be quoting a fat red cat and a spindly chihuahua?

But this is totally how I feel right now:

Curvy Love and Why I Write It

First of all to get the house-keeping out of the way, Her Shifter Soldier and Too Much to Bear are $0.99 until 5th. Also, to celebrate the release of The Bad Moon Boxed Set, it will be $2.99 until the 5th also!

Now, onto my musings:

I was combing through the Bad Moon series for more typos before releasing the bundle (and boy was that embarrassing!) when I came across something that a few of you lovely readers have picked up on and mentioned in the review–Bailey’s pant size.

I never really thought much about it when I wrote it. To be honest, it is just one of those things I know about Bailey because, well, I created her. And it is just one of those snarky things she points out about herself. I must admit that when I write in the first person, I’m not really speaking as the narrator. And it’s no secret–Bailey has big girl issues, and that’s part of her journey!

I decided to remove the mention of her size, because it wasn’t my intention to have my reader compare themselves to her. But I realized, after asking a few other indie authors about the subject, that it will inevitably happen. Because which one of you hasn’t wanted to wring out a thin girlfriend’s neck because she complained about a “fat day?”

When you’re gifted with curves, it’s sometimes hard to see your own beauty. People make comments, sometimes maliciously, and sometimes casually, with no malintent. Those were (and still are) generally worse for me. You can dismiss someone who’s hatred is more blatant. It stings, but it’s quick–it’s their problem, not yours. But when someone doesn’t mean to hurt you, saying something as simple as, “are you sure that’s the right size?” It stays. Lingers in the back of your mind until the next time someone says something about your appearance.

Sometimes it doesn’t even matter what they say. It could be kind, it could be cruel. When some someone says you’re beautiful, you might think that they’re mocking you. Or that they’re crazy, and you can’t accept the compliment. Or maybe you feel like a fraud, like you tricked them for the day.

Sometimes it’s something neutral–like a character mentioning her pant size in a story you’re reading.

I didn’t mean to bring any of your bad memories back–if anything, I wrote Bailey (and most of my heroines) the way I did because bigger girls can get it too! I love knowing that what I write diversifies what’s out there, whether it be because my characters are uniquely beautiful, curvy, or come from a different ethnic or racial background.

The truth is, we all fall in love. And falling in love rocks. Every woman and girl should know that they are uniquely beautiful. Society has it’s rules for us, but sometimes we have to make rules for ourselves. Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re undeserving of love because of your size–imagine the example that sets to all the young women in your life.

For me, BBW is a revolution. A really steamy, sexy revolution. And it’s not going anywhere any time soon 😉

Remember, like many of my heroes, there are men who love curves. But more importantly, be a woman who loves yourself, all of yourself. We all have flaws, we all can improve. But you are more than a pant size, just like Bailey. You are women, but you are also employees, parents, teachers, daughters, spouses, writers…the list goes on.

Just stay you, stay strong, and be good to one another 🙂 (advice I should follow…!)
Lots of love,

After Midnight–The Bad Moon Spin-Off

aftermidnight1

I know it’s been a while since I’ve last made a blog post or published anything, so I’m happy to announce that I’ve just released the first part of the Bad Moon sequel series called After Midnight! I don’t want to give away too much, because even the description contains spoilers for the Bad Moon series. But you’ll be happy to know that whichever hottie didn’t score Bailey gets a story of his own ;-).

I also know that I implied that I would stop writing serials in my last blog post, and that was a semi-lie. Sorry! In making a transition into the life of a writer (as well as numerous other mundane things that I won’t waste your time with) I realized that I wouldn’t have After Midnight completed as a novel until mid-summer, and I know some of you just wouldn’t want to wait that long! So I decided to limit this serial to three parts–if you aren’t a fan of serials, just follow my blog (or join my mailing list) and you’ll be updated when I’ve released all three as a set. This is the best compromise I can come up with until I can focus my energies on writing full-time!

I’m also in the midst of writing my first non-paranormal novella, and I hope to have a release date (not to mention a cover and blurb for you all) as soon as possible. In the meantime, here’s a link to After Midnight 1–available on Amazon, Smashwords, All Romance Ebooks, Google Play, iTunes, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo (have patience with the last four! They’re slower to distribute–I’ll update with links once they’re made available).

Thanks again for all your wonderful support. I’m still learning a lot, and every time one of you reaches out to tell me what you think, whether it be praise or criticism, I grow as a story-teller!

Lots of love,

Jackie

Bad Moon 3 and the Upcoming Novel

Hi everyone!

Bad Nymph (Bad Moon 3) is now available at Amazon, All Romance Ebooks, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords. It will be available shortly on Kobo, iTunes, and Google Play. I hope you enjoy it!

I also wanted to let you all know that I have made the big decision to go ahead and make the next installment a novel! I was debating about this for a few weeks, but I decided that that serials don’t really suit me. I think it would be best for my sanity, and for you all, if I could get through the story and avoid all of the crazy cliffhangers!

So there you have it. It may take a little longer, but I hope the wait will be well worth it. Not that I am saying that this will be the final installment in the Bad Moon series–there are a number of stories I want to tell with these characters, I’m not done with them yet!

So thanks for all of your supportive comments, reviews, and emails. It really makes my day when I see that someone has taken the time to read a Bad Moon book 🙂 You guys are so wonderful, and I wouldn’t have had the courage to go ahead and write a novel without all of the support I’ve received.

Also, if you just don’t think you can wait that long for your next fix, join my mailing list! I’ll be sending my subscribers exclusive sneak peaks, and I even have a Bad Moon short in the works for them (from Trent’s perspective)!

Lots of love,

Jackie

Update on Bad Moon 2!

Hey everyone!

First of all, I want to say thank you for all of the support and lovely comments–I have been blown away by the reception of Bad Moon! I have to admit, when I hit “publish” on my short ebook, I didn’t really expect too much to happen. You guys sure know how to make a new author feel good 🙂

So I owe it to you guys to give you the skinny (or the curvy?) on what’s up with Bailey and the boys. I do have a finished draft of the sequel, Bad Wolf, and I am working diligently to have it stringently edited for your reading pleasure. I am also revising Bad Moon, as some of you have so graciously pointed out I had a number of embarrassing typos. Thanks so much for seeing the potential in my story anyway! This newbie has to get her act together…

So there you have it, the next installment is almost in your kindle/nook/reader! Really all that stands in your way is a good, sound editing and my broken computer…grrr! I will try my hardest to get it out by the end of the week, and it will happen, as long as all the computers in the world don’t suddenly decide to turn on me (which is actually a recurring nightmare of mine).

Thanks for all of your support, and I encourage you to join my mailing list and follow my twitter if you want to be alerted when Bad Wolf is available for your reading pleasure!

Lots of love,

Jackie
